Painted during my visit to Les Jardins d’Eau in the Périgord region of France, Waterlilies in Brilliance captures the remarkable color and light of a garden filled with waterlilies. Brilliant pink blossoms emerge from layers of green while the pond, bridge, and surrounding foliage soften into fluid washes of watercolor.
The French title, Nymphéas en éclat, reflects what drew me to the scene: waterlilies not simply floating quietly on the water, but positively glowing against it.
